Career Biography

In November 2017, Tony became a Director of Heart of England Community Energy (HECE) located site just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. HECE is the UK’s largest community energy company by size of assets. The land on which the solar farms are built cannot be used for agricultural purposes which makes it a particularly appropriate location for solar farms. The projects were constructed by Anesco, a British company that has constructed over 100 solar farms. 
In 2002 GMC developed the concept of an electric light commercial vehicle and with London Taxi International built three demonstrators. Tony was then a founder Director of Modec Ltd, and as Sales Director and then Operations Director established Modec as a World Class producer of Electric Vehicles. Tony was awarded the “Green Fleet Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2005 “

  • Project managed the building of a new £1.5million dynamometer test facility to develop drive trains for electric vehicles. 
  • Built a "World Class" assembly plant with "Lean" principles through extensive training at Board, Management, Team Leader and Team Member levels of a class leading electric delivery vehicle. 
  • Improved the profitability from a previous maximum of 3% to 10% return on sales in the OE Automotive Industry. 
  • Revolutionised method of manufacture, reducing throughput time by 55%, stocks by 45%, space requirements by 30% 
  • Replaced 5 piecework schemes with flexible group pay schemes and increases productivity by 15%-32% 
  •  Introduced cell manufacture, JIT and employee involvement and improved profitability of company by £1.0 million 
  • Achieved awards in recognition of 'outstanding achievements in training, development and enterprise' from TEC 
  • Consolidated, moved and reorganised a World Class jobbing foundry

  • 2010 - 2015 - Zytek Automotive Ltd, Lichfield
     Continental Engineering Services Lichfield Facilities manager – establishing a planned maintenance scheme for all plant and equipment, building and site services Tony led a Strategic Change Programme, building an assembly line for Electric Vehicle Drive Trains, using lean manufacturing techniques. Zytek currently supply drive trains and associated equipment for the Mercedes Benz Smart car and Modec LCV. The project consisted of building a mezzanine floor, installing new plant and equipment and relocating an existing assembly facility into the new assembly line. Training in “lean manufacturing was given to all areas and levels of the company resulting in a World Class, Lean assembly facility. 
  • 2008-2009 -  Piaggio Aero Project Leader working for Industry Forum in Genoa, Italy
     Leading a team of Senior Engineers developing a Supply Chain Management System for Piaggio Aero for the P1XX, 8 seater Executive Jet plane. The P180 Avanti II is Piaggio Aero’s flagship product. It is the world’s fastest turboprop business aircraft. It offers customers the speed of a light jet aircraft, the comfort of a large, quiet, midsize cabin, and fuel efficiencies that are nearly 40% higher than most business jets and 25% higher than the most efficient twin turboprops.   • 2002 – 2008 -  Modec Ltd. Operations Director
    Tony was the leading player and a major driving force in the development of the new Modec Range of Electric Vehicles. With a range of 100+ miles it has a top speed 50mph. The batteries can be charged over night or exchanged in 15 minutes.
